 How to Order

At FMSweb, Inc. we work hard to minimize the time it takes to locate and purchase the tooling, equipment and supplies you need for your metal fabricating operations. Because of the wide variety of items that metal fabricators need we offer a number of quick and easy ways to request quotes and purchase the items you're shopping for.

 

FMSweb Quik-Quote Service

In a hurry? If you know exactly what you need or you'd like us to recommend a solution for your metal fabricating application our "Quik-Quote" service makes it easy to request a quote in one simple step. 

[1] Just send us a description of what you need! You can use any of the following ways:

Online you can submit your request by clicking on the "Quik-Quote" button located in the top right corner of most pages in the FMSweb site. Fill out the "Quik-Quote" form and click on the "Submit" button located at the bottom of the form

Be as specific as you can when describing the item(s) you want quotes for. If you know a manufacturer and item number for the item please include it in your request. Be sure to provide any important dimensions, options, features and details that are needed to accurately define the item.  

Whenever possible we recommend that you use our "Product Specific Request for Quote Forms" instead of the "Quik-Quote" form . Product specific forms provide spaces to enter details necessary to accurately and completely define the item, this helps to assure that all the information required to process your quote is included with your request so that we can provide you with quotes quickly!

You will find "Product Specific Request for Quote Forms" by using the "Browse" menus on the left side of each page or by clicking on the product category tabs located at the top of each screen. If you can't find the specific product that you would like to request a quote for or if you prefer to use our basic quote request form just look for the button located in the top right corner of most pages in the FMSweb site!

 

 

Ordering Stock Items

"Stock Items" are well defined standard "off-the-shelf" products that our suppliers maintain in inventory. Coming Soon! FMSweb will make ordering these items fast and easy with our on-line catalog. It's like having a hardware store dedicated to metal fabricating products right at your fingertips! Ordering "Stock" items will be a simple three step process:

[1] Find what you Need
Locate the item that you need in our on-line catalog. You can browse through the catalog much like you would a printed catalog or you can use the FMSweb Search feature to quickly find the item by typing in a short description of it. 

[2] Add it to your "Shopping Cart"
Once you've located the item you need simply click on the button labeled "Add to Shopping Cart". This adds the item to your "virtual shopping cart" much like you'd do if you were shopping at your local hardware store. You can continue shopping for other items in the catalog and add them to your "shopping cart" the very same way.

You can view the contents of you "shopping cart" by clicking on the shopping cart symbol located at the top right corner of the screen or by clicking on a "View Cart" button. You will be shown a summarized list of the items that are currently in your "shopping cart" along with their prices and quantities. You can change the quantity any item in your cart or remove it from your cart by using the "Change" and "Remove" buttons while viewing the contents of your "shopping cart".

[3] Check Out
Once you've finished shopping and you are ready to place your order just click on the "View Cart" button and then click on the "Check Out" button. Fill out the check-out form with your shipping and billing information, review your order one last time and then click on the "Submit Order" button.

Ordering Made-to-Order Standard Items

"Made-to-Order Standard Items" are well defined standard products that require features of the item, such as length or size, to be made to your specification. Because of the virtually infinite number of variations these products can be made to it's not practical to stock these items as finished "ready-to-ship" products. Instead, our suppliers stock the most popular of these items as partially finished products (sometimes called blanks) so that they can be quickly finished to your specifications upon receipt of an order. At FMSweb.com buying "Made-to-Order" items like press brake dies, punches and shear blades is a simple four step process:

[1] Identify the type of tool or item that you need.
Use the Browse Menu displayed on the left side of our product pages to locate the type of tool or item you're looking for. You can also use our FMSweb.com Search feature to lookup an item type by description.

[2] Submit a Request for Quote (RFQ)
Once you've identified the tool or item you need simply click on the "Request Quote" button located to the right of the items description on the catalog page.  Fill out the easy to use online RFQ form to specify the Make-to-Order specifications that you need and then click on the "Submit" button located at the bottom of the form. 

For your convenience our "Request for Quote" forms are designed to be "printer friendly". You can print the form out for use in your shop or office by clicking on your browsers print button. Use printed copies of our forms to gather ordering information and then send us the request for quote using any one of the following ways:

Online submit your request for quote by transferring the information to the form on the FMSweb.com web site for fast and easy submission to us online.

Note: If you are ordering a "Special" Tool that needs to be custom designed you will also need to send us a drawing or sample of the finished part that the tooling is being used for. Click here for information on how to send us your drawing or sample. See the section on Ordering "Special Items" shown below.

[3]  Review your Quote 
Once we receive your RFQ we will quickly assemble quotes from several FMSweb Preferred Vendors for the item you've requested. We then use your preferred method of contact to tell you when your quote is available and how to review it on FMSweb.com.

[4] Place your order online
At your convenience, log-on to FMSweb.com to review the quote. All the items you've requested quotes for will appear in your personal online "Quote Catalog". Simply choose the item(s) you want and the supplier you want to order from to add them to your online "Shopping Cart".

Once you've finished shopping you can review the items in your cart and make changes by clicking on the "View Cart" button. When you are ready to place your order just click on the "Check Out" button. Fill out your shipping and billing information, review your order one last time and then click on the "Submit Order".

Ordering Special Items

"Special Items" are products that are custom made for your application. Our suppliers are experts at handling special item orders and will work with you one-on-one to develop a special tool or piece of equipment to meet your specific need.

Special Tools - If the item you need is a special tool, chances are we've built one similar to it before. Consult our on-line catalog in the general category for the type of tool that you need, (ex. "Press Brake Tools"), browse or search the section for "Special Tools". Locate a tool that is similar to the one that you need and then follow the steps outlined above for Ordering "Made-to-Order" Items. You will need to send us a detailed drawing or sample of the part the tool is to be used for, click here for information on how to send us your drawing or sample.

Other Special Items - If you can't find a tool in our on-line catalog that is similar to the one that you need, or if you need a custom made piece of equipment, we'll be happy to consult our network of suppliers to provide you a quote for the item. Send us a detailed description of the item that you need along with your name and contact information. You can use the FMSweb Quik-Quote Service that is outlined below to send us your request.
